You are referring to rule logs probably. These are not useful and are likely to be benign. What you need is the logs containing OUTPUT of Tomcat and Aware IM Server (these are seen when you click the View button next to the corresponding entries on the Aware IM Control Panel). Since control panel is not useful for this kind of a problem you need to run Aware IM as a service.
When you run Aware IM as a service there are log files automatically created by the services software. These are the logs you need. They contain detailed diagnostics about the system with timestamps. I guarantee that they are not benign. You need to study them carefully and see what the problem is.
