Ok, I've tested HTML document template using EXPORT DOCUMENT TO FILE and DISPLAY URL to try and get the HTML document to display in a browser popup.

1) EXPORT DOCUMENT TO FILE 'file location/quote.html'

Well the document was exported, not as HTML but some encrypted jiberish

2) EXPORT DOCUMENT TO FOLDER 'file location/'

Exports the file as Quote.html.html with the same jiberish.

5. Printing of documents of HTML type from rules is not supported.

I guess exporting HTML is not supported either.

Need the browser based popup window back ASAP!!!

Essentially we would need HTML to PDF conversion, whats would be the cost for this?

My work in 5.8 is currently limited to a trial I've installed on a VM. It so happens that almost all of my document displays are called via a URL because I combine multiple PDFs on the back end. I have a few documents that don't and I will likely code them to do so because the native document display in 5.8 is simply not good. At first, I didn't know what you guys were talking about but now I get it and agree that we either need better control over that window, or return to browser-based popups.

Workarounds aren't really on. We have something here that previously worked and worked very well, now it doesn't. End of. Support AIM should either fix it very quickly or just as quickly withdraw it and put the system back as it was.

I for one am losing face with existing users.

I concur that this change has degraded our ability to deliver normal document behavior. I may have to hold at 5.7 until this plays out.

To display in Aware IM managed popup window (5.8-) use DISPLAY DOCUMENT:

To display in a browser-managed popup window use IN WINDOW option:

DISPLAY DOCUMENT ... IN WINDOW

Thank you for this. So if the DISPLAY DOCUMENT option is used from a menu, it there a tick for this option?

No, it's only supported for processes at the moment. So if you have a Create Document operation you need to replace it with Start Process if you want to use this option.

Issue remains with the "Printer Friendly Format" icon in the header.
The printer friendly format is not so printer friendly.
It uses the Aware Pop-up window and again, the modal window cannot be printed on its own. It prints everything on the browser screen.
