Ok we have an identical setup. Just wondering whether it's a memory issue.

My memory config is
Jboss 256mb
Tomcat 512mb
AwareIM 1024mb

Total memory physical memory is 4Gb

I have another problem. I don’t think it’s related to this one. Ill try to explain....

I have been following steps in this thread to try and sort out the problem with documents. The problems with documents is something I need to get sorted but between reading posts on here and waiting for replies and implementing suggested steps I have been working on other parts of my configuration. Everything else has been working fine and earlier today I made some changes and put into testing mode. The changes I made worked fine and everything was aok.
I went and had dinner and when I came back a couple of hours later my data no longer appears in queries. Both in testing mode and my working version. I know that aware is connected to MySQL because I can see my data in system settings.
All of my data is intact inside MySQL as I have checked using phpMyAdmin.

I have no idea why this has happened as it has seemingly happened on its own???

Does anyone have any clue as to what might have happened?

I can’t test any of the latest solutions to the document problem as I have no data to test with.

Just to be clear, apart from my document problem, all aspects of my configuration have worked fine and as expected AFTER any steps I’ve taken in this thread.

Hi Tom, I did start with the obvious and restarted my server no less than 3 times last night but the problem was still there, I got fed up and went to bed. Strangely when I got up this morning its all working fine again and all data is displaying as it should so panic over. I really have no idea why that happened?

Rocketman, my total physical memory is 4 GB too so I have set the same as you:

Jboss 256mb
Tomcat 512mb
Aware 1024mb
and Configuration Tool 256mb

I changed the settings from the 'settings' menu on the awareIM control panel. Is this the best way to do it?

These changes have made no difference I’m afraid to say and I am still getting the same error show.

Actually after double checking it turns out that the Jacob library is supposed to pick the correct dll automatically based on the platform, so both dlls should be present in the system folder.

Hi Support,

I tried copying the jacob-1.15-M4-x86 back into sysWOW64 but the problem is still there.

I also upgraded to awareIM version 5.2 to see if that might clear the problem but it is still there.

I have reverted back to Java 32-bit. If I delete the jacob-1.15-M4-x86 from sysWOW64 I get a different error appear - 'Internal error. no jacob-1.15-M4-x86 in java.library.path' this makes me think that it is looking for the wrong dll. Is there a file that has some code to point to the right dll? Would it be possible to manually change this file to point to the right dll?

With regards your main problem. I afraid I'm fresh out of ideas now. Have you tried re-importing the word doc, saving and then publishing a new version? - just wondering whether the actual doc held in the database has got scrambled in some way. Also - thinking back to your original post - does it work with docs that DON'T have sub documents?

I've just updated to 5.2 and the problem with running as a service still exists. I tried running jboss an tomcat as services and just running aware from the control panel. I was surprised but it fired up ok.

Jboss returned active and functional, tomcat stopped with a severe warning (8080 already in use) but then Aware fired up ok. The end result was that word merging worked in this config. This leads me to think that either

1) If there was only one instance of jboss running, there may be a problem with the aware service

2) If the green active and functional message means there were two instances of jboss running, then the fault may lie either in the aware or the jboss service.

Not sure where this leads Gabbitas - at least I am able to continue working.

Happy to let you poke around in my server if it helps resolve this issue

I restarted the server several times and the same problem was still present. I still have no idea why this problem occurred :? But it came and went and I havent had the same thing since.

I have tried re-importing the word doc. I have tried writing completely new word docs. The same problem is there. The only time I get the error is when I run any document with a sub document in it. All other documents (ie ones with no sub document) all run fine and download to client as expected.

I know that we are both running the same versions of office, aware etc, on the same servers both with 1and1.
Have you got any documents containing sub documents in your configuration? do they run without the same problem as me?

Support - Have you got any more ideas for me?

Having just applied about 3 weeks worth of Microsoft updates to my server 2008, the "dispatch not hooked to windows memory" has now changed to " Document not found in business space" when running as a service - but they are all there when running the control panel.

Curiouser and curiouser said the march hair (or was it the mad hatter) This problem is certainly driving me mad.

I have the same problem with a newly created 64 bit installation.

Internal error. no jacob-1.15-M4-x86 in java.library.path

Maybe this has something to do with the system defaulting to the jacob 64 bit.dll and then trying to reference the MS word 32 bit app.

because of the 64 bit environment the jacob 32bit dll is not in the loop when it has to be, if MS office is 32 bit

If this is the case, is their a solution other than having to buy a 64 bit version of ms office

I resolved this by reinstalling AwareIM, problem must have been because ms word was installed after AwareIM

Hi All,

Well now, its more than a year now since I first had this problem and although I have recently moved my installation from a virtual server to a dedicated server I still have the same problem. I am still getting the "Dispatch not hooked to Windows memory" message when I try to run a document that contains a SUBDOCUMENT.

Does anyone have any further ideas on this problem?

Hi All,

Its another 10 months down the line and I am going to try and have another kick at this old horse.
Support have been unable to reproduce the problem at their end so I have asked if they can take a look at my server where the problem occurs.

I would like to ask you all again if anyone else has this problem (Dispatch Not Hooked to Windows Memory)
It seems to occur when you run AwareIM on a 'server' and with MS Office 2007 or 2010 and you use the SUBDOCUMENT tag inside an MSWord template.

Is there anyone else who successfully uses this combination with the SUBDOCUMENT tag? Is there anyone else that can reproduce this problem?

Also whilst researching this problem I came across the following post on the Microsoft support site which may be of use to some. It describes the limitations of using office in the server environment and also touches on license issues which I found helpful.

I get this message when I try to run AwareIM as a service, but it all works fine when ai run the control panel. The disadvantage of this is I can never log off my Remote Desktop session, I have to disconnect which means one of my terminal server licenses is constantly in use.

Would be happy for support to log into my app if it would help.

Can you confirm that you have ms word documents that specifically contain the SUBDOCUMENT tag? and that they run without issue (when running aware control panel)?

I only have this problem with subdocuments. All other documents run fine. I run aware using the control panel. I have other issues when running aware as a service so i dont run as a service.

There was indeed a problem using the SUBDOCUMENT function for certain Windows setups. The problem will be fixed in 5.8
