Document Templates - Dispatch not hooked to windows memory

I have many MSWord Document Templates that are run via processes using DISPLAY DOCUMENT. They have all worked fine until recently. I recently updated to V5.1 (But not 100% sure the problem didnt exist in previous version before updating).

The problem I have is that all documents work fine and download to the client machine except for when the document contains a SUBDOCUMENT. Before the document begins to download to the client they are presented with the following message:

"Internal error. Dispatch not hooked to windows memory"

Does anyone have any clue as to what this might be? I have tried re-installing MSWord to repair any problems with that, and looked elsewhere for the problem but its made no difference.

Also im running on MySQL

I've had the same problem when running AwareIm as a service. Stopping the services and running the control panel solved the problem for me - but it's not ideal since my server won't now auto-recover after a restart

Support - I think this one may be worth you taking a look at

.... and of course I'm tying up a precious Remote Desktop license by having to stay logged on.

I thinkl i did read a post about your problem with AwareIM as a service. I am not running AwareIM as a service so this is not the cause of my problem 🙁

I remember I also dropped back from Office 2010 to Office 2007, but that might be a red herring

I think 2010 required a volume license key to work - which I didn't have. There's a Microsoft knowledgebase article on the subject somewhere

Did you install office AFTER you installed AwareIM?

looking at the results of a google search for " Dispatch not hooked to windows memory" the problem would appear to be something to do with JACOB - which I know nothing about.

All I can tell you is - after I had the problem, I re-installed AwareIM from scratch After I had installed and registered Office 2007. Maybe Jacob need Office to be in place before it is first run?

In 5.1 we have upgraded to the new version of the library that handles communication with MS Word. The new library is implemented with the dll called jacob-1.15-M4-x86.dll

This is the dll that must be called. The old one is called jacob.dll. If it is used instead of the new dll you could have a problem. So search your computer for all occurrences of jacob.dll and delete it. (especially look in the Windows System32 directory). Also make sure the new dll IS installed in the Windows System 32 directory.

Hi Support,

I have followed your instructions above.

Deleted jacob.dll - it wasn't in system32 but found it in windows/sysWOW64
Found jacob-1.15-M4-x86.dll also in windows/sysWOW64 but couldn't find it in system32
Copied jacob-1.15-M4-x86.dll into system32
Shut down awareIM and restarted my server
Started awareIM again but problem is still there and im getting the same error message.

Does the new .dll have to be installed in some way or is it ok to just copy in as I did?

You don't need to do anything special to install the new dll

Are you running 64-bit Windows or 32-bit? If you are running 64-bit there should be another version of the dll installed called jacob-1.15-M4-x64.dll

Installation should have taken care of that automatically but maybe something went wrong and you do not have the right dll installed

I am running 64-bit.

jacob-1.15-M4-x64.dll does exists in both windows/sysWOW64 and system32 (I copied it to system32)

After another restart of my server the the same error still remains

On my system that's working both the x86 and x64 dlls are in the sysWOW64 directory but NOT in the system32 directory.

might be worth removing them from your s32 directory then doing a server restart

Do you use DISPLAY DOCUMENT .. MERGE INTO ONE in your installation? If so, how long does it take to generate one document? What version of Word do you have installed on your server?

Anyway, my process does a

Renewal email has RenewalLetter as an attachment of the document type

RenewalLetter is 3 pages with a lot of tags on page 2

took about 10 seconds to form and send the email to one person. As I recall, it took about 15 minutes to send around 160 emails last year. (saving UK £50 in postage plus envelopes, paper, time)

Actually just done a test using a standard "create document" menu item. After selecting 1 member -6 seconds to being able to see the doc on screen.

Also, if deleting 32-bit library doesn't help, try installing 64-bit Java - there should be a forum post somewhere how to do this. I am not sure if it has anything to do with the problem, but running 32-bit Java that comes with Aware IM by default with 64-bit OS can be a problem in theory for a sensitive area like this one.

Thanks rocketman, I tried this first and it made no difference. I then copied the files back to follow ideas from aware_support.
I deleted the jacob-1.15-M4-x86.dll from everywhere and then restarted the server. When I tried to run the document in Operation Mode I got the following message 'Internal error. no jacob-1.15-M4-x86 in java.library.path' so i thought i would try installing 64-bit Java
I found the post about installing Java 64-bit here https://www.awareim.com/forum/d/4988>
I downloaded and installed Java JDK from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk-7u2-download-1377129.html following the instructions in the post about Java.
Another restart of the server and I ran the document again......Now I'm getting an error saying 'Internal error. Dispatch not hooked to windows memory' again???
I checked back in windows/sysWOW64 and in system32 and jacob-1.15-M4-x64.dll is the only relevant dll to remain.

Daft question but can I assume your Office license key is valid?

If you are running Office 2010 on server 2008, you definitely need a volume license key. A standard single user license won't work. One of the reasons I dropped back to 2007 was because I couldn't afford the min 5 user licenses to qualify for a volume license

Key is valid and I'm running Office 2007 on Windows Web Server 2008 R2
