intra Loved the idea of using MariaDB, however there wasn't any rock solid support for it so i backed out of that idea.
customaware I was very interested also Pete. I am not sure but suspect it "may" have been that I originally developed in MS-SQL and then deployed in Maria DB. Have not had the time or inclination to develop solely in Maria DB, so that may have been the problem.

I have developed in MySQL and after that deployed in MariaDB, but some queries gave the errors above. MariaDB is gaining popularity and would be very nice to be supported by Aware.
