Issue with displaying parent items on a business object

Hi guys,

I've upgraded from version 6 to Version 7 of AwareIM (build 2180) and noticed a range of issues.

I have a business object "Application" which is owned by "Customer" On the Application BO i have a "Owned By" attribute link in the top right hand corner. If you look at this screenshot youll notice that the table of contents is displaying behind the fields under it.

I tried adding this inbetween separators to see if it solves the issue now it wont let me collapse the item at all ?

please note this is happening in all instances

Do not put a grid in a multi-column form. If you do make sure that there is nothing underneath it.

The issue has been discussed many times on this forum.

You may need to adjust your 6.0 forms to handle "tall controls" in 7.0-friendly way - see multiple posts on this. Try searching the forum for "tall"

Is there a way of creating a button on the child object to reference the parent object ?

So i could click on the button and it navigates me to the parent object, that would be really useful 😃

I know there is a way of creating HTML buttons by creating a blank row, then attribute type html. I just dont know how to reference the parent object

Are you talking about the scenario when the form of the child is embedded in the parent? If not, where is the button on the child?

Hi !

No basically what i would like is instead of having a grid on the multi column form i would like a button to replace it.

So i have a customer record ( Parent Object ) who owns Applications ( Child Object )

If i am viewing the Application record which is owned by the Customer record, so there is only one Customer which owns this application.

I want to have a button on the Application which has an action to "edit" or "view" the Customer who owns it ( Customer Record )

I hope i made sense

yes you can. this is straight forward, unless I have completely misinterpreted your intent.
You could have a drop-down if by 'edit' you mean you just want to change the instance of the Customer Object associated with the instance of an Application Object.
Or if you also want to actually edit attributes of the instance of the Customer Object on the fly from the form of the instance of the Application Object, then you could also have a button which runs a process which VIEW's or EDIT's the form of the instance of the Customer Object which owns the instance of the Application Object.
Or you could achieve both via a button only, but with an extra intermediate step after the button is clicked.
Clarify exactly what you want to happen.

Ah ofcourse !!

Thankyou pureist i can create a process so i can VIEW or EDIT the form of the instance of the Customer Object. i dont know why i didnt think of that :?

And when i said "VIEW" and "EDIT" i should of been more clear, I meant view or edit the customer object iself not change the associated object
