XLS Viewer not showing file

Hi Guys,

Using v7 and Chrome, whats the trick to get an xls file generated by aware in the nice little viewer window that appears?

Currently the window appears, but stays empty and the file downloads instead...

I'm sure its a pesky chrome setting or something? I can set chrome to open the file automatically - it opens in excel though and not in the browser window...

Yes, I can tell the browser to open the file, and excel opens it... it just wont show in the little viewer window within the browser...

Oh... I think that is how mine works.....

I get the same with Word. Opens Word and displays or downloads the document but never opens inside the viewer dialog.

Dunno why.

Maybe Support will fill us in then 🙂
Its a bit ugly like this - it'd be better to not have the viewer open at all, but even better would be for the file to open in the viewer

Excel must be installed on the client for this to work and registered for the browser.

Aware IM just asks the browse to display a file inside the window. The browser decides whether it has the viewer for this type of the file or not. If it doesn't have the viewer it decides that it's a binary file and downloads it.

Can you please expand on what you mean by "excel must be registered" for the browser?

Excel is installed on the PC, I set xls filed to open with chrome by default but that didnt work so not sure what/how to "register excel for the browser"

Also, is there any way to tell aware not to open the viewer window?

Try opening an Excel file with the browser outside of Aware IM. If it doesn't show the viewer something is not set up in the browser.

You can start a document in a separate browser window. Check the documentation of DISPLAY DOCUMENT action.
