Can not Access v7 application without passing port 8080

Hi Group,

I am working on the evaluation copy of v7 and wondering if is there any restriction on opening the application without passing port 8080 in the evaluation copy of the software? I can open the application with :8080 but when I change the tomcat port setting to 80, I can not open the application even within my own network.
Can someone suggest a way to fix this.

You need to go to Control Panel and change to port 80.
Then you need to go to C:\Aware\bin\UIConfig.props and in the bottom add
OperationMode=http://localhost/AwareIM/logonAdmin.html

Ok I have changed my Tomcat port number to 80 and added the following line at the last line on the UIConfig.PROPS
http://localhost/AwareIM/logonAdmin.html
But when I try "http://192.168.2.58/AwareIM/logonAdmin.html" from my another pc within the same network, it does not open my application. I can though open "http://192.168.2.58:8080/AwareIM/logonAdmin.html", if I open tomcat to 8080.

I'm not familiar running from another PC on the network. What I provided you allows you to use port 80 instead of 8080.

Hi Ben,

Even if I try using test mode on the same development machine, it does not open the application and gives http error 404. I am just wondering if evaluation copy is only meant to use port 8080?

The evaluation version is NOT meant to run on port 8080 only. You have some problem with your setup. Make sure that the port configured for Tomcat (can be any port) is not used by other apps and is not blocked by firewalls.

Hi Support,

Ok I tested another port# 89 and it works and I can even open my application from outside of network by passing :89 but I still can not access with port 80. I installed my AwareIM and SQL Server Express 2014 on the new clean server 2008 R2 copy. I also checked by default the IIS is not ON. I also checked my windows firewall setting and the only port 80 is ON is the entry which I added myself for http.

I investigated further and found my freenas 9.10 server is using port 80 and I also tried changing freenas to 81 but still I can not open aware im with port 80.

Anyway if some one is willing to share some more info on how to find if some other application is using port 80, that would be great.

Not sure if this will work Sabbi but try....

C:> netstat -a -b

Aware IM definitely works with port 80 - we have our own sample application server running on this port.

Some app is using this port on your machine still - you need to find out which one. Most likely it's IIS.

Stopping IIS from listening on port 80 is not that easy and most likely this is where your problem is. This is what we do:
Start IIS Manager, select Aware IM connection and then select Stop (Server) on the right hand side

my 0.02 cents worth is that SOMETHING else is listening on port 80. So, for instance, if you have IIS running, it will grab all requests to the default http port.

Thanks to all but I do not even have IIS role checked in.
For now I am not spending more time to find out the reason as that is not my primary concern at this time. I am fine for now with 8080 or even any port like 89 or something and it works fine.

I'm on a MS Azure server.
IIS is not running.
... doesn't even show being installed.

I cannot change Tomcat to port 80.
Well, I can, but it fails at startup saying something is already using Port 80.

Windows firewall shows this... but note these rules are NOT enabled.

... but this looks pretty innocent.

I'm sure I could get this working on Port 89 also, since its not in use.
But how to find exactly what is running on Port 80?

I believe there is some option in netstat that allows you to see what application is using the port. There are also some third party utilities for this (Google for them) - Active Ports etc
