Yahoo's new DMARC policy

Hi Guys,

I'm struggling with Yahoo (and others) DMARC policy after 5 years of trouble free emailing. Is there a way in AwareIM to change the Reply-to: field in an email message.

Yahoo no longer accepts email from yahoo addresses if they don't originate from a yahoo mail server. This is most inconvenient for me since my package (used to) allow members to send out bulk emails to other members who could easily reply by hitting the reply button. Now - as a work-around I'm having to send the mail "from" an unattended mailbox on my server and members who want a reply have to remember to put their email address in the body text.

Reading the Yahoo and DMARC blurb however - if I can put the sender's email address in the Reply-To: field the problem will go away

For info, I'm using MailEnable as my mail server

I suffered this as well, and concurrently saw email trouble with Hotmail and Gmail. Read down just a bit - I recently posted the same request. Also, the upcoming initiative to provide individual smtp settings per user is what is really needed to cure most email ills.

I agree the new facility looks interesting. The ability to set the reply-to parameter in email is however (IMO) a fairly basic requirement of any email system and should have been built in years ago. I am aware however that I'm now a couple of versions behind so probably won't carry much weight with Vlad these days. (although I will upgrade as soon as the cash flow improves - but I don't do any commercial dev these days and am working on the principle of - "if it ain't bust - don't fix it")

"Mailing lists are a special case of sending mail on behalf of individuals. The most common option is to use the mailing list’s address instead of the sender’s on the From: line. This will change the reply behavior. Some mailing lists also choose to act as pure forwarders and resend the mail without breaking DKIM signatures. As of this publication, no common mailing list packages provide straightforward configuration options that produce DMARC compatibility, although Mailman has relevant features starting in 2.1.16.

What I don't understand is that this archive document is dated April 2014 but the bounces have only just started this week. One of my members with a yahoo email address received 60 rejection messages from a list of 150 members. could it be that other "en route" servers have been ignoring the yahoo policy until recently?
