Hi all,

SPAM is a annoying thing whit which everyone are focusing today, but when your sending email are ranked as SPAM is more annoying.
In multi-tenant apps are requests from users that the sending messages to appear that are sent from their own email address. This is possible with a workaround. Although, this is not ok from RFC standards point of view. Only humans sees that email is sent from user email-address, the email-servers are seeing that is a fake email address.

I have contacted Support and requested to add the feature in next releases " Separate SMTP settings per tenant/user". Their price is $800 USD.

If those who are active on this forum will pitch-in, we will cover much easier this price.

This would be a great feature which would solve the email-messages vs. SPAM problem and a big forward step for all.

Just to be clear, are we talking about outgoing email only? SMTP is for outgoing email and both in and out multitenant is what is needed?

I think it's best if the specs and the scope is clearly identified. When Rodney approached Support to build a custom plugin for Stripe, he provided a nice list of features and the scope of that plugin.

I think for anyone to become interested and want to contribute financially, the specs should be revealed clearly and you will see more interested precipitants.

You are perfectly right Ben. I wrote to Vlad to agree with him the entire functionality. As soon I have a reply from him I will post them here, plus benefits also.

Hi all,

Sorry for that I was not so clear in describing the new feature. Last night I have received the reply from Support and bellow you can find the benefits&how this feature will work.

BENEFITS:
Your apps will have a good score in SPAM, you will be able to send messages with real email address in multi-tenants apps (without any workaround).
Your customers will be able to use their own SMTP server (where-ever they have a valid email account: ex. gmail). In fact unlimited possibilities in using SMTP settings for each user.
Your customers will never call you for that your server is blacklisted (because they'll use their own 🙂 ). Who manage a email server knows that SPAM is a big problem in our days and soon or later if outgoing messages are sent with today workarounds your SMPT server used in "System Settings" will be blacklisted.

HOW it will work:

This is not a plugin, it will be a feature included inside BO's.
When a BO is selected as Intelligent it will be populated with these fields:

'From' E-mail address
Password
Server Address/IP
Port
TLS

SSL

the form of the BO for these settings could look like this:

When an email is sent from this BO than these smtp settings will be used. Simple!!!
Keep in mind that ALL old features regarding SMTP settings will remain for future using, for those who want to use them.

Thank you and hope more would understand that this feature is +100 steps in sending messages out of AWIM. 🙂

George, when a group of us needed a plugin, Rodney (RLJB) was a great organizer and the middle person to pay support the required fee and we ended up paying him. He did a great job organizing it and follow ups (Thanks Rodney).

So, either an organizer needs to formally handle the money and pay support or support needs to officially set the price and those who would fulfill that amount (no more, no less). As it is now, it's too vague who is going to handle this. There should be an accountable system for this sort of (Pitch in) cases. This way, we can see, how much money has been contributed and how much more is needed.

I thinks this will help people to jump in.

Did you discuss ingoing email with Vlad? and what do you and other developers think about the ingoing email problem?

Having outgoing is only half way there IMO i.e the email problem isn't completely solved?

Yeah but why not do it all, right, once and for all and if Vlad is spending a day implemeting outgoing, also implementing incoming at the same time would probably not be a biggie. I for one can contribute more if we do in+out.

You are right...SMTP is 1/2 way, but keeping smtp servers out of RBLS(blacklisted) and outgoing AWIM messages arriving to destination in "Inbox" folder rather in "SPAM" folder is a huge step.

SMTP is only about outgoing! It's described above, detailed!!! Do you keep your amount in or you want to abort?? Just to know how the budget is going?

Henrik, please start a discussion with Vlad and see if the incoming is possible.
