Looking for efficient billing options for my SaaS app.

Having never set this up before I am interested to hear what solutions others have used.

My billing will be based on the Tenant's number of users each month so hopefully it will vary (increase over time is good, right?)... ie Billed Amount = Rate X Number of Users

I have considered Paypal but seems like changing the amount billed each month for a recurring payment is complex (cannot even work out if it is possible)
Alternatively, had a look at BillingStreet.com but not sure if their API (http://billingstreet.com/api/) is usable with Aware IM.

Any guidance or suggestions from those who may have already done all this type of stuff would be really appreciated please.

When my (SaaS)app is finished, I also try to the billing right from Aware system, so I can easily update the database and also reflect the rules that payment has been received. Although, I'll charge ahead of time, but you seem to be at the end of each period.
The reason for my reply was, to share one findings, and that is, most people, at least in US are pretty comfortable paying via Paypal, vs. all these other payment systems. So, I wanted to share this with you to take it into considerations.

Has been a few years since I looked at this, but back then you couldn't vary a paypal subscription by more than 20%, without cancelling the subscription and then they have to buy a new one (not good for your per user fee model). So I don't think paypal will work. Also, when a users card expires on a paypal subscription it just ends, so you need a process to deal with that too (and you won't know when that expiry is).

We ended up integrating Braintree with aware with a custom plugin, funnily enough, PayPal bought Braintree about a year ago. If you can't beat em, buy em.
