5.9 Signatures on PDF Reports not working

I have a Signature attribute (Picture attribute with Represents Signature checkbox checked). I am generating a PDF report out of my form. The form has the Signature attribute and after I sign the form (using the mouse), I want to display the PDF with the signature.
Currently the image is being displayed but it is very big and hence I want to scale it down and tired all of the following but none of them seemed to work as expected:

Used the SCALE_IMAGE function. This is actually converting the signature attribute (which is stored with DOC_TYPE .png in the database) to .jpeg DOC_TYPE and does not display the signature but shows a black band.
I tried specifying the "Scale Picture to fit" under the Presentation Options of the attribute by specifying the width and height to be scaled to. This just scales the the box size on the form but does not display the scaled image on PDF.
I also tried by using another attribute which would store the actual and thumbnail representation of the signature. But this does not make any difference and no image is displayed.

Am I missing something or is that a bug in the tool? Please let me know at the earliest.

and 3. should definitely work, especially 3. You must have done something wrong

I tried the 3rd method again:
I created 2 attributes on the Business Object - Signature and Signature Thumbnail. I have a form which displays both the attributes and then I collect the signature on both of them to check how it would work on the PDF report. Once the form is saved, I generate the PDF report out of it and then I find that both the signatures are of the same size and has not made much of a difference.
Which attribute should be displayed on the form to collect the signature from the user so that the scaled smaller image is displayed on the PDF report?
Also,I found that even if I display the regular Signature attribute on the form, only when the mouse is used to sign on the top left corner of the box, then the signature is displayed on PDF. If the form is signed somewhere in the middle then it is not displayed.
Please let me know if there is anything missing / wrong in this approach.
