INcoming Email Polling Stopped

Our incoming Email Poller has stopped.

It use to say 'Checking mail' when looking at the AIM Server Log.
But now I realized no mails are coming in and when I check the log I see that it doesn't poll anymore. Completely Stopped.

Anyone else experiencing this?

It shows this in the Log:

Why would this happen and How can it be prevented?

Hi Support... We are still experiencing this problem on a almost daily basis where the Incomming email poller just stops polling for no reason whatsoever. Here are the latest logs from when this happened today:

I had to restart the AwareIM Server again for it to start picking up the email from the mailbox again.

Please advise how we can get past this as this is a big concern since the incoming email is a HUGE part of our application and we cannot have to restart the system every day.

Any assistance will be appreciated.

From the log it seems your email server is shutting down every now and then so you need to take it up with the service provider.

Hi Support, Hope you are well.

I Followed this up with the Service provider (RackSpace) and they assured me that there was No Downtime on their side in the past month. And nothing on their side that could cause this to happen.

What do you suggest is the next steps to establish the route of the problem then as I does look like it is on the AwareIM side. Is there perhaps a library that we can upgrade or something?

Bit unsure how we will resolve this then. Rackspace is one of the largest mail host companies and their servers are very stable and reliable. Also, even if there was a drop, shouldn't AwareIM auto resume the polling again once the connection has been re-established?

Looking forward to your response.

Any other tips will be highly appreciated.

Something for consideration.

In the past I have had such issues so I now automatically stop and restart my email via a scheduled job and process every few hours. The more important email plays a part in the app the more times a day I do the restart. This seems to have fixed my issues. We can do this now with the Disconnect and Connect commands.

This sounds like a Viable Solution. Incoming email is a VERY crucial part of my application so I Guess it would be safe to run this process every hour or so.

I'll Give it a shot, Hope this resolves the issue. 🙂

I'm trying to figure out this manual connection thing but having some troubles. I Created a Object EmailAccount exactly as discribed in the Rule Language Ref guide. I added all The attributes and then CReated an instance of the Object and the name is RedRabbit.

Now my process looks like this:
FIND EmailAccount WHERE EmailAccount.AccountName='RedRabbit'
CONNECT TO EMAIL EmailAccount

In the log I see that it finds the object but the it says: Connect Failed. I Made 100% Sure my passwords, usernames, SSL, Port, and Host is correct.

Is there some critical step I'm missing here? There are no complete examples available as far as I can tell.

From what you state it sounds like you did not create your Incoming Email BO via the

Add Email Account object

option in the configuration tool? Did you do it this way? It's just that you said you added all the attributes? What do you mean by that?

hahaha... Ok I see now what you mean. I did not know you're supposed to Right Click on Objects to 'Add incoming mail Account'. So I Manually Created a new object and added the attributes as discribed in the manual.

I have now deleted mine and used the method in The Configurator and it connected perfectly now! Thnx alot! 🙂

Now I Just need to setup the Scheduling Rule to Disconnect and Reconnect every hour or so and hopefully that will solve my problems as currently my incoming poller stops randomly every day and I have to check every 30 minutes whether it's still running as Incoming mail is VITAL to my application.
