Query Filter Length

I have an attribute that is 80 characters. However the filter feature seems to only search the first 30 characters. Is there a way to increase this?

Mmm. I guess if it is a restriction of AwareIM then you can't do much. Curious to know why a user would type in more than 30 characters to do a search?

The issue is that only text up to 30 characters is searched. Anything after 30 characters is not included in the search.

Imagine using Google but only being able to the search only finding 30 characters of a web page... That's all that the search functionality in Aware IM is doing - only searching 30 characters of an attribute instance.

Make sense now?

I should say - doing a Google search and Google only searches the first 30 characters of a web page...

So you are saying if you have a text attribute of 500 characters and you do a contains search it only checks if the first 30 characters of the attribute contains the search string?

Yes.

One clarification - it is the feature where you can select 'Filters' button in the Display Query Results and you can tick the attribute you want the search bar to show above the attribute in the results grid.

I have a Project.Title attribute. The projects are displayed in a query grid with the Title filter. The title is defined with about 100 characters. In the filter I've searched for the last 3 words of the title and the Project has been found just fine.

Also, I've duplicated the Project and the title name and made the 31st character different. When filtered the 31st character was not ignored.

I'm using MySQL, so it could be a MS SQL issue.

Thanks for doing that Rennur. I've double checked again in a different app I created and same issue.

If anyone else has SQL Server and can check to see if the filter option works (or not) beyond 30 characters I would appreciate it as we could then confirm bug or not.

I'm using SQL Server Express and it works fine for me too.

I think I may have ound the culprit (but a little concerned on what I found).

The attribute is a Plain Text standard format with a Max Length of 1000 characters. By pure guess I changed Max Length to 999 and it the filter search feature started working.

Interestingly though after I changed it and the search worked a few times, the attribute became null for all instances of that attribute. I had to reimport data...

So it appears that there is some sort of limitation when max length is over 999.
