HTML button in forms when using IE aren't working

Using 1599 and IE 9;

I have a visual perspective that uses a button to launch a process that works fine. I use the StartProcessFromForm command in an HTML segment. But I have identical buttons on forms that do not work in Internet Explorer. When page containing the button loads, I see the Error on Page notification at the bottom of the browser. The buttons have no effect at all. If I click to compatibility mode, the page just refreshes back to where it was. This is only occurring in IE, other browsers fine.

I believe this stopped working when I went to 5.5.

Perhaps there is a setting in IE?

Correction; error occurs in IE8 but not in IE9. I have tried compatibility mode with no help.

Please turn Javascript errors on (in Advanced settings of the browser) and let us know what error message it reports

Object doesn't support the property or method.

It highlights a.form=b in aware.js

I pushed the play button in the debugger and it went to ext-all.js and pointed to:

Is there any update on this? A workaround?

I have just realised we have same issue with html buttons, such as:

<button onclick="AwareApp.startProcessFromForm('CreateNote','new_tab',this,false)" type="button" style="font: bold 12px Arial">Create New Note</button>

and also issue with <a href links.

MS IE8 doesn't work (it used to), the browser just reports error:

Just an update: IE8 also does NOT work for links, such as:

<a href="#" onclick="AwareApp.startProcessFromForm('Director_Add','new_tab',this,false)">Add Director</a>
