Report design on remote config tool

Hi Support,

We're currently experiencing problems when trying to create/edit Reports using the remote config tool.

We can open the Report designer & make changes, but when we press Save at the bottom of the Document form we get the message;

"Error compiling report. Please see the error message in the console window."

The error in the console window is;

"Couldn't create text renderer."

No changes are saved.

It works fine for 'text'/'html' documents. Error only occurs when working remotely on 'Report' documents.

Any ideas?

Hard to say. The error message is actually harmless. Are you sure there's nothing else there?

No, there's nothing that can help us identify the problem. Would need to test it ourselves...

1.5 years on and we are still experiencing this issue.

Is anyone else having this problem?

AwareIM running on server in office (on Linux box)
users have remote config tools on desktops (on Windows machine)
remote config tool does everything EXCEPT the report designer fails on 'Save & Close'
it reports error "Error compiling report. Please see error messages in the console window." The error window says "Document Template Error"
there are no errors listed in the console window
any changes done to the report are ignored and not saved
fyi - one user in office running Linux on Client machine has no such problem with the report designer
also, it doesn't fail on HTML or txt reports

It's getting really tiresome having to remote desktop into the server to do a report. Any and all suggestions welcome.

OK, we found a work around to this problem:

Download the full Windows evaluation version to the client
Open the uiconfig.props file
Change the Webserver and Hostserver to the IP of the server machine
Run ClientStarter.bat

Config tool will open and report designer now saves.
