This post is both a Problem report & resolution.
I was trying to have AwareIM send emails via our Exchange server and have the email address seen by the recipient ( ie: sender@abc.com ) be different from the account through which the email is authenticated & sent via the exchange server ( AwareIMemails@abc.com )
The purpose of this is so that each AwareIM user can send emails from the system that appear to come from their own account. On many systems, that is not a problem, but if you are sending through an Exchange server, certain security settings may restrict that from happening.
If you see this error message in the logs and are using an Exchange server:
"Client does not have permissions to send as this sender"
Have your system administrator modify the Send As Permissions for the sending users to include AwareIMemails@abc.com and \NT AUTHORITY\SELF.
