Possible to refresh reference table

Two Objects A and B where A has a references to multiple B's in a single field.
I am displaying B's within A's main form using a table.

I have a process that updates rows in the table when you change other rows in that same table. Sequence is Edit Row X, Fire Rules, Refresh Rows Y,Z... etc.

I can't seem to get the table to refresh when the changes are made. Any hints ?

Hi,
I'm pretty sure that if you use the refresh rules for the parent form and make sure to include any processes used to impact on the reference and the referenced object itself, the reference will refresh when changes are made to it.

I can't make it work.

Rules on B activate a process that updates some of the other B's and I have the main form of A auto-refreshing on completion of that process. It doesn't work.

I also tried auto-refresh when B's are saved, but I don't think this counts in that scheme.

Hi,
You must be missing one of the steps, it should work. I have created a quick sample for you that does work. It has two objects; ObjectA and ObjectB with ObjectA having multiple references to ObjectB.

ObjectB runs a process when Object IS CHANGED that updates a timestamp attribute in all ObjectB's.

Steps:
Create an ObjectA, Add several new ObjectB's using the reference 'Add New' button. Edit one of the references using the edit link and after you have edited and saved one of the ObjectB's, you can see that all of the referenced ObjectB's have updated and refreshed in the ObjectA reference table.

I believe that this simulates the scenario that you laid out. You can download the sample bsv at:

Slight difference in use case... allow your table of B's to be inline editable and make the name column editable. Edit a name on a B and only that one's time is refreshed in the view without closing/reopening the entire Object A, where they will all be refreshed correctly.

You were right, once I made the reference editable, the form no longer recognized changes to the references in order to refresh itself and the challenge was on.

I tried a number of workarounds. We needed to be able to force a refresh of the form but we don't have that ability so I tricked it by changing a hidden element in ObjectA when changes occurred to ObjectA.ObjectB. The form then recognized the change to ObjectA and refreshed itself.

I have replaced the bsv referenced above with a new version that is working under your new scenario.

Well, I tried it straight away and couldn't get it to work on my app. Its quite a bit more complicated but couldn't figure out what the issue was. My grandmother died last week so that pushed it to the back burner.

Anyway, tried to mess with it again today and can't figure it out. I noticed if I put your HIDDEN field on the form, it never changes, or rarely changes. Is that what you see as well ? I didn't understand.

Anyhow thanks again, I will probably let this go for now and ask that the AwareIM folks take a look and see why this doesn't work out of the box.
