Error - Document engine for template is not working

Hi everyone,

I hope someone can help me out with the following error report.

I have installed AwareIM on a VPS. The application we have created has the functionality to reports presented in a PDF document. This function has been working fine before we had to re-install PDF on our VPS. Since the re-install we can’t create PDF documents anymore. We receive the following error message:

Document engine for template Annual Report is not installed on the server or not working properly.

The PDF reader on the VPS is working fine though. I can open any PDF on server. Hence I would presume it should work with AwareIM too.

The following link didn’t help me any further.

Has anyone of you an idea of how this can be resolved? Perhaps it is just a configuration within AwareIM….

Have you been messing around with the BASServer.props file when installing on the VPS? If so, you could have lost or messed up the line that starts with:
DocumentEngines=...

This line should include the definition of the report engine:
com.bas.basserver.documents.JasperReportsEngine

If this definition is not present you will get the above error.

Hi,

no, we did not change anything in the BASServer.props file. This is the entry in reg to Decument Engine we can see this file:

DocumentEngines=com.bas.basserver.documents.JasperReportsEngine,com.bas.basserver.documents.MSWordDocumentEngine,com.bas.basserver.documents.TextDocumentEngine,com.bas.basserver.documents.HtmlDocumentEngine,com.bas.basserver.documents.MSExcelDocumentEngine

Any other ideas how this could be fixed?

The only other exlanation is that the document itself is stuffed up. Either of the two - either the report engine is not loaded from the BASServer.props file or the document is of unrecognized type (it is not being recognized as a report or any other type supported by document engines listed in the BASServer.props file)

Hi,

hm. That’s odd. I did a couple of tests to verify both scenarios but the problem still exists.

To make sure I am not working with a faulty document or Business Space, I created a new Business Space using the Library sample. In here I did try to run the predefined Text, HTML and PDF documents. Neither of them worked.
I compared the current BASServer.props file with a backed up copy we made just after we installed and started using AwareIM. The content is identical.

The only changes I made to the original AwareIM files are those listed here (
