Business Object Groups

I'm currently testing the trial version and I'm very impressed.

Is there a reason why the common attributes for Business Objects in a Business Object Group are not defined/editable in the Group configuration and why there is no indicator in the Business Objects that an attribute is common to the a group.

I would like to suggest the following:

........+BOGroup1

............+Group Attributes
............|....-CommonAttribute1
............|....-CommonAttribute2
............+BusinessObj1
............+BusinessObj2

Adding a common to group(s) indicator on the attributes line in the BO configuration.
It would be useful if you could create a new BO that would have all the Group Attributes by right clicking on BOGroup1 and selecting New

When the Add New button is clicked, in operation mode, a window titled Create Business Object pops up asking the user to Select Business Object to Create. - Is there a way of changing the Create Business Object window title, and the picklist label Select Business Object to Create. Making these two pieces of text configurable in the business object group would be very useful.

Your thoughts on the above would be appreciated.

Currently there is no way to change the label of that dialog. We will add this support in the nearest maintenance release.

Your suggestions about group improvements make sense. We'll add them to the TODO list.

Actually you can change the label displayed in the dialog if you provide your own locale and "translate" the string in question into something else...

Yes, but that is not by Business Object Group which would be preferable as you may have different Business Object Groups that require different messages
e.g.

BOGroup Transaction might need 'Select the type of transaction'
BOGroup Communication might need 'Select the communication method'

Another work around is to override the default behaviour to provide your own process that would allow users to select a type to create.

That sounds great but I have no idea where to start, I have tried a few things but still have some questions:

Is there a standard Aware IM function, process or other that I can use to ask more that a Yes/No question using DISPLAY QUESTION.
e.g. if you have a BO Group called 'Policies' with BO's called PolicyCar, PolicyHouse PolicyContents. I have added an attribute CustomerPolicies of type Policies to the BO Customer. When the user clicks on the Add New at the bottom of the table I want the override process to ask 'What type of policy do you wish to add?' and give them the options: 'Car', 'House', 'Contents' once selected create the appropriate BO type

NB: when I overode the 'Add New' with a process using DISPLAY QUESTION; the CREATE BUSINESS OBJECT form appears before the overide process displayed it's question. I know I can use buttons generated by 'Operations Invoked from this form', but I still want to use the button at the bottom of the table; is this possible?

You can collect info in a form of either a non-persisted BO or in the RegularUser BO (by referring to LoggedInRegularUser) and use it throughout the process.

I have created a SelectPolicyType non-persisted object and can now select the type using my own form, just trying to figure out how to pass the customer reference to the PolicyCar BO.

in Operation Mode for attributes that refer to the a Business Object Group and are displayed as tables, in the configuration tool when editing the reference element on a form the Generate "Add New" button option is selected and the settings button next to Generate "Add New" button option is clicke you have the option to Use custom implementation

It seems to execute the default implementation, then the custom implementation.

The easiest thing is not to use the Add New button at all if you are having problems with its custom implementation (I am sure it works, though). Turn this button off completely and define an operation that would invoke your process to add a reference.

You can already display a form to select the type now you just need to do something like this:

If SelectPolicyType.Policy='Policy1' Then
CREATE Policy1 WITH ...
INSERT Policy1 IN ParentObject.Policies
(or ParentObject.Policy = Policy1)
If SelectPolicyType.Policy='Policy2' Then
CREATE Policy2 WITH ...
INSERT Policy2 IN ParentObject.Policies
(or ParentObject.Policy = Policy2)
...

This process should take ParentObject as input.
