Form Size

All,
I need to determine the form height of every form in our system to determine if it is going to meet a specific client request. There are hundreds of forms that need to be checked. I know that all of this layout and form setup information is stored somewhere. My question is where? It would be much easier to say right a query that listed all forms above a certain height then it would be to open each on individually and risk missing one.

I seem to run into the same issue because I have people who contact me when they cannot see a pop-up or don't like seeing scroll bars or wonder why I am not using all of the usable space...it always seems to be resolution related. I wish that I could force people to stop using 800x600 or 1024x768. What stinks is that I have to create apps that are functional on these small resolutions and then get calls from people who wonder why there is so much "white" space not being used. Yahoo mail is a good example of well laid out and functional web application. It is functional whether you are at 800x600 or on a larger 24" screen w/1920x1200 resolution. I wish that Aware could stretch and make use of the lower section of the screen. If I create a query and specify the height is works for some users but others complain about the scroll bars. The same with pop-up forms; I get people who are using the smaller netbooks with small resolution and they cannot see the top or bottom of the pop-up. Also troubling are people who change the view zoom for their browser which causes all kinds of trouble on forms where anchoring is used...I have date fields that start displaying scroll bars under the control...errrrr! I wish that I could force people to use the same resolution it would also be great to have separate forms and visual presentations that could be used for people with different resolutions.

Sorry for going on and on...I guess it is the way that Aware and other web apps work. I just wish that I had the type of control and could offer a web app that looked and functioned like Yahoo mail.

Not to hijack this thread but does anyone else go through the same pain that I do? I do think that it would be nice to have the ability to view form sizes globally to better understand which ones may potentially be an issue based on the resolution that people may be using.

To be honest the biggest compliant I get from users is issues they have with applications not sizing correctly to there screen.

It seems there is a delicate balance between using the available real-estate and going beyond the capabilities of the users monitor. This unfortunately does not even cover the case that the user is not running their browser in fullscreen mode which creates additional issues.

Sorry forgot to post a method that was tried to find this form size information out.

If you export the entire business space to xml which is available from the export menu then you should be able to search through the data and find the form size specification.

There is one issue with this method. When you choose to export as xml you still end up with a bsv file. Which means all hope of pilfering through this file for the information is lost.
