Fantastic add-on!!!

But I can't seem to locate the speical attribute in the SystemSettings as indicated in the Help.

Before using Google Maps you need to register with Google and obtain a key. You should enter this key as part of the SystemSettings object that automatically includes a special attribute representing Google Map key.

Do I need to create it? if so does it require a specific attribute name/type

Worked it out, just add attribute 'GoogleMapsKey' as Plaintext 150 for an existing project, new projects get the attribute automatically.

This new feature is amazing!! You can either display an individual address by showing one instance on a BO form or on the detail band of a Custom Presentation.

The really slick feature is to show many different AwareIM addresses on 1 map with each address having it's own marker. To do that you put the map in a Custom Presentation Summary Band. What ever instances are in context will show up in the Google map. Each map point also shows the attribute information from AwareIM's "Display information window" setting as the user hovers over each map point. This will be very, very useful!

BSVs from before V4.5 will need to have a new SystemSettings attribute: GoogleMapsKey. AwareIM will automatically create this attribute if you Export the BSV, then re-import it in the Config Tool. New BSVs will automatically have the GoogleMapsKey attribute.

Re: Initial Zoom Scale -- values are 1-19

Default will be 13 if you leave it blank
1= shows the whole world in intial zoom
19 = zooms in very close on the address

Tom,
Would you be able to provide the ABC's of adding the google maps. I followed the user guide and also added the google map key to the SystemSettings GoogleMapsKey attribute but I keep getting the following message.

"Unable to determine Google Maps Key. Google Maps will not work. Please check that the value is properly initialised."

Did you add the SystemSettings.GoogleMapsKey yourself, or did you follow the earlier post to let AwareIM create it?

I created a new business space which already had the attribute entry. I just set the initial value to the key I recieved from google when I signed up to use the api this morning. Then followed the directions in the UserGuide. I am going to try it again with a new business space just in case.

If you have not gone into Standard | System Settings and created the SystemSettings instance, you have to do that.

Our Gliding club - being in the middle of nowhere - does not equate to anywhere near the postcode centre. Is there any way I can put the long - lat co-ordinates in.

The asp function I used to use contained the following line

map.setCenter(new GLatLng(53.305012, -1.730040), 12)

Did some testing - answered my own question.

1) Create attribute called LongLat (or whatever you want really)

2) Enter your co-ordinates like so: 53.305012, -1.730040

3) Edit the form and use the LongLat attribute instead of Postcode

You can get the Long Lat for anywhere with pinpoint accuracy by using Google earth, zoom in close, position your mouse at the point you need then read off the numbers at the bottom of the goole earth screen

Starting with V5.2 . build 1513, Google Maps no longer requires a key. Very slick!
