Aware giving unkown error when starting

I am suddenly getting the following error when starting Aware;

Unable to set required value to 'max_allowed_packet' database variable due to the following exception Access denied; you need the SUPER privilege for this operation Make sure that it is at least 10M and start the server again

Nothing has been changed on the server
Any ideas?

Someone must have changed privileges of the MySQL account for Aware IM. It needs to have admin. privileges.

Yes, I drilled down to find where the error was coming from and the cause after my post. Thank you for the quick response. Questions is did my hosting company change it while working on the box yesterday.
