Its Back! Unable to connect to remote mail host .... already

My clients system regularly stops processing email and pops the following error into the AwareIM log

"Unable to connect to remote mail host .... already connected."

I have previoously fixed this by stopping and starting the AwareIM server, I have also forwarded mail to an account that only the AWareIM server uses. (This has the problem that email progressively builds up on that account as AwareIM doesnt remove mail it has read - which is a separate issue.)

There is no other email client connecting to this account and I have ensured this by changing the password .. but I am still getting the error.

Could this be due to something like the size of the mail file exceeding what AwareIM is able to download in the interval available??

Apart from bouncing the server - What can I do to fix this permanently?

I am also seeing another email related error in the AWareIM Log..

"ERROR - Exception forming notification for e-mail logos from "User Name name@email.com" duplicate entry entry. BMST_logo.jpg E-mail will not be processed."

This error appears about every half an hour.

Could this be related to my other email issue reported above?

What does the duplicate entry refer to the email address?, the email itself or the file name BMST_logo.jpg?
Could this be affecting, or be affected by, my other email issue reported above?

I am guessing here but is it possible that two different users have the same e-mail address? That could possibly explain this error message. Please check that e-mail addresses are not duplicated
No, the two issues are unlikely to be related

No I have checked that. I already have a number of other emails from that address before and after this one. I am wondering if it might be the file attachment.

Sorry to resurrect an old topic, but I'm having a horrible time with Aware IM mail right now. One of my clients has not received emails in a few days now through Aware IM.

The errors I've seen in there are:

2008-08-25 09:49:07,212 ERROR -Unable to connect to remote host xxx.xxx.com already connected

2008-08-25 09:49:20,837 ERROR -Unable to connect to remote host xxx.xxx.com Unable to log on. Only one connection to a mailbox permitted at a time.

Also another one about mail relay, which is illogical because the e-mail client used in Aware IM should be authenticating with the mail server (It asks for SMTP authentication information). Therefore it is not an anonymous mail relay. The only solution I've found online for this situation was adding a line of java code to the object calling the mail method that checks for authentication before sending the email to the server. This is also impossible at a user level as it would be in the Aware IM code.

Does anyone know how to fix these? Thank you in advance.

Sorry I forgot to mention that there are roughly 2-3 accounts receiving emails from one server. However they all have unique logins, so they would not be accessing the same mailbox. As well they are actually accessing different domain based emails from the same server.

Aware IM should support authentication - aren't there the corresponding properties in the e-mail channel settings that allow you to specify user name and password?

Regarding the errors - can you Google for these specific error messages, maybe it will give you some clues?

I have looked into the first two problems:

You were partially right, they were problems created by MailEnable. MailEnable will put a lock on the mailbox not allowing any other users to connect to an individual mailbox until the initial connection is closed with a POP QUIT. However I can still see this being an Aware problem as checking the logs and within 3 seconds Aware is trying to connect to the MailEnable server 30 times. This, I don't believe, is my Aware application because we can't control how often our Aware applications try to connect to a mail server.

The authentication issue that I mentioned: javax.mail.MessagingException 553 Sorry, over your daily relay limit

Is something in Aware. I believe this, because I have my user name, password, correct mail server and port entered for out going. Though it doesn't seem to be authenticating before sending the message, and as such javax.mail has a limit of 100 messages before it cuts you off thinking you were a spammer.
