Appending data

Hi,

This is probably explained somewhere and I have overlooked it, but is there a way to APPEND data to an existing AwareIM database?

So I know one can IMPORT data, but is there a way to:

overwrite it all with new data
append changes to existing records

Are you talking about CSV import?

If so, then you can both add new records by importing and update the existing ones. If you do not specify an ID of the record in the CSV file Aware IM will consider it a new record, otherwise it will use the record identified by the ID (by the way, a record can also be identified by a combination of attributes, not just by ID - you need to place a "*" symbol next to the name of the attribute in the header of the CSV to indicate that the attribute(s) identifies an existing record.

Just and FYI

By adding the "*" to an attribute in csv file ( *Object.Attribute) Aware will use that field as a WHERE statement and update matching records NOT creating new records

Thanks ! Great to know, however at the time of that writing this function hasn't been available. Just another proof that AwareIM continuously goes towards THE perfect tool 🙂
