What will be ideal setting for 8gb ram server with windows, best aware IM memory setting.

If you intend to do any Development on the Server (ie. use the Configurator) then I would set to

Server 2048
Tomcat 2048
Configurator either 2048 or 1024 depending on the size of your bsv

If Not using Configurator on Server then

Server 3072
Tomcat 3072
Configurator 512

I am by no means an expert so if anyone can provide some rationale as to the benefits of using different values then I would love to hear it.

Once you have Marks suggestion set , then monitor your memory usage in the Windows Task Manager (or equivalent in the OS) on the java.exe's and make sure the usage is not maxed out and running at the setting value. If it is, increase the setting value to at least 25 % more than its average usage so you have some head room in the event of something funny happening (like an incorrectly configured reference query). I normally allocate as much as possible to the AwareIM server after I have the Database memory setting optimised

What are you leaving for your database?
If using SQL express this may be ok for a dev server but if using for production it will be very slow.
