ComboBox undefined choce not getting saved (SOLVED)

I have defined a combo box to include empty text in the choices ('undefined' shows up in the list ). If I have saved a selection, and then later want to go back and "blank it out", it allows me to select the 'undefined' selection in the list, but when saved, it reverts back to the last saved value. Is this a bug?

You have to also type something like "Empty" in the empty text property for this to actually work.
