URL rewrite

Hi all.

I'm needing to do a URL rewrite for an aware app. I don't know much about this, despite hours of searching for a solution. I came across this post (Myapp.com/AwareIM/Optional (rewrite URL) (comment)&hilit=url+rewrite#p35916) but I don't know if this is the best route to go or if it still works? We are hosting on an azure server (IIS 10) and I cannot get the URL rewrite in IIS to work no matter what I try.

The company doing the hosting for this client has advised that when doing pointing from their domain, 'a records' can't contain slashes, or ports so we need to do a rewrite to(?from?) something like company.idp-apps.com

This has become quite desperate so anything that I might be able to try I will try. I'll try the post I mentioned above now, any wild guesses would be appreciated.

I've tried for the hundredth time to set up the rewrite in IIS and I'm getting stuck at the 'Loading page. Please wait...' that usually shows for a second before being logged in but with the rewrite rule in place it stays there forever.. Aware IM has nothing to do with IIS...

Of course not. I was thinking this might be possible in tomcat. As I said it doesn't work in IIS, this could be because I'm doing something wrong or because it needs to be done somewhere else.

To update/consolidate: Redirecting works.

Rewriting gets stuck on 'Loading page. Please wait...'. When viewing page source the page that should be displayed is there, it just never gets displayed to the user. The panels on the home page etc are all visible in the page source.
