Background Color for an Entire Form Cell

I have a form with 3 columns.

I have a row at the top where I merge the 3 columns together so that the row spans across the entire form.

I want an HTML TITLE in the merged cell with the background colour stretching across the entire cell. At the moment I can only get the background colour to display directly under the text but not out to the edges.

Any ideas please?

Not a high tech answer, but would it be acceptable to fill the entire area with text like:

* * * * F O R M H E A D E R * * * * *

Fixed it.

Even though you have merged all the columns across the form, you still need to set the width of every column independently to 100% and have a width: 100%; tag in your css class.

Interestingly, I needed to set the width at 98% otherwise the background colour extends past the right hand edge of the form.
