Configuration of Business Objects
Now that we have determined the business objects, their relationships and attributes we will explain how to enter this information into AwareIM. All configuration work in AwareIM is done in the Configuration Tool. The Configuration Tool can be started from the AwareIM Control Panel by clicking on the “Start Configurator” button.
After the Configuration Tool starts it displays the tree with all elements of the configuration and the working area where you define the properties of the configuration elements (see also the Overview of the Configuration Tool).
Configuration of the application is performed within a business space. For our library application the business space is called “Library”. You need to specify this name when you start the Control Panel for the first time or create a new business space by selecting the File/New item of the Configuration Tool menu”1)
Inside the business space configuration elements of the system are contained in business space versions. When a business space is initially created it contains one business space version (which has some pre-defined elements). Configuration work usually begins with the configuration of the business space specific elements in this version – see also Working with the Business Space Versions.
So we start our configuration work by creating business objects in the default business space version (usually it is version 1.1 in the business space). Select this business space version and expand its node in the tree – you will see all configuration concepts available in AwareIM – business objects, processes, queries etc. We are currently interested in business objects. Right click on the “Business Objects” node and select “File/New” from the menu (or right click and select New from the popup menu). The working area will show the business objects editor.
