[OFFICIAL] the v8.2 "minor" improvement list

At the conference, Vlad agreed to work on a list of items intended to improve the UI on the Configurator AND any other minor improvements that can be suggested.

These items [almost certainly] will not make it into v8.1 (which is imminent), and we certainly don't want to slow down efforts to get that released.
However, users would like some of these issues addressed before v9.

This thread will allow users to suggest these minor IMPROVEMENTS to AwareIM for release as a v8.2 product.

I'll summarize requests in the message following this as items are listed.

IMPORTANT. Please keep in mind the purpose of this list is for minor tweaks to the v8.1 functionality of the Configurator, installer, general product, etc.. Not for drastic "NEW" functionality in a later release. Items that you assume would take Vlad "only a few minutes to put in". If you've thought to your self "Surely, he could do that in an hour", then list it here. If its a week's worth of work, it ain't making it in this maintenance release.

1) "reverse" theme for nighttime use (ACDC)
2) double-clicking to move/select fields in lists (Jaymer)

4) preserve the open/closed status of the "Advanced Tab" in Sub Elements Properties window (Jaymer)

When Inserting Attributes on a Form,
Allow a double-click to move the field to the right (or left), instead of having to click the arrow in the middle:

because this is frequently used and you have to scroll to get to it a lot of times, move Operations with Records higher in the sub-elements window.

In the Sub Elements Properties Window, preserve the open/closed status of the "Advanced Tab".
Each time you up/down through the list of Attributes, or Rules, the Sub Elements window redraws.
If you are trying to examine the Advanced properties, each time you have to manually re-open the Advanced section.

Don't forget Bruce's ideas:

1. Short text boxes like "Applicable when" need a popup with a text area (some of my conditions can get pretty long).
2. AIM remembers our preferred setting for standard view vs. textural view (I never use standard view).

Adding a basic capability to copy, cut, paste and find (on mouse right click) on certain places in config tool like Custom query, plain text, advanced script, html boxes.

Here's one that's been bothering me for a long time...

I try to avoid using the mouse/trackpad (especially for repetitive things). I would like to log into test mode purely by keystroking, but I can't tab to the "Testing Mode" checkbox. Please make that tabbable.

Clarification - After talking with Jaymer about this, I should note that I'm using the single-user licence for development which requires me to log out of the app every time I go back to development. Otherwise I could just Ctrl-R.

It’s great to organise elements in the Elements Tree using Categories that render as folders. But when you select a Process or Query in a properties box they are shown as combo lists in alpha order. Might be good if these were also shown in the same folders that display in the Elements Tree?

Maybe use the dark theme from the Eclipse ide ?
