Power of Appointment Objects

Post by RocketRod »

Appointment objects are powerful as they give you extra ways to display your queries being calendar and scheduler. So a trick is to set up every BO that is date related as an appointment object. For example, contacts with customers, jobs in a production or customer complaints.

The appointment object comes with a start and end time so all you do is set these to the date that the transaction occurs and add in some time part. You can set the time part to 0 for start time and 23:59 for the end time or use whatever time band you want. Just make it long enough to look good on query displays. The important thing is not the time but the date part.

You can then have users look at a customer contact query in scheduler view with maybe the account managers as the resource so you immediatley have a visual view of when account manager's are visiting customers!

So when ever I set up a new BO I don't ask....

Should this BO be an appointment BO

but

Why should this BO NOT be an appointment BO!
