Mobile VP: Starting Point

Post by tford »

Goal: To create a "skeleton" Visual Perspective that is a starting point for Mobile use.

1) Right click on Visual Perspectives in the Configuration Tool tree

2) Click "New"

3) Name the VP. I called my MobileSkeleton

4) Click "Create"

5) Click "Mobile Compatibility" button on the VP.

6) You will see 18 compatibility issues. To eliminate them:

... a) Remove the following frames: Banner, Footer, Status

... b) Remove "Standard" option from this VPs menu by clicking "Top Bar", then "Settings" button. Right click on the Standard menu item. Right click and select "Delete".

... c) Right click "Logout" menu item. In the Icon field, remove the icon by clicking "Change" button. Remove any entry in this field & click "OK".

... d) Click "OK", "Save" to save the revised Visual Perspective.

Now when you click "Mobile Compatibility" button, their will be no compatibility issues.

You are now ready to build your Mobile Visual Perspective from this skeleton.

What I do is leave this MobileSkeleton in the BSV as a starting point. Now when you want to create a new Mobile VP, just copy and paste this skeleton to this BSV or any other BSV.

Thanks Tom, that is a good idea. I wonder if it would be a good idea to make this Visual Perspective available by default when creating a blank business space. Or maybe you should be given a choice when you create a new VP between a regular VP and a mobile VP. No big deal but perhaps something for the todo list?

Yep, I sent that suggestion to Support before writing this summary.

Great to hear you concur! When Pete agrees, I always know it makes sense.
