Web Service: Cannot assign return vals to BO Attrib

I believe there is a problem with the web service functionality. The issue is with the ability to assign return values from a web service call to attributes of a BO. As you can see from the two threads below I have attempted to narrow the issue down as well as see if I am approaching this wrong.

In the YouTube example that I recieved from support it appeared to have the same issue but I was unable to prove that because I could not see what if anything was supposed to be returned from the web service call. With the help of free web services available through http://www.webservicex.net/WCF/default.aspx I was able to dig into the issue further. This site allows you to view the result of the web service call. None of the multiple services that I attempted to use would assign return values to an attribute.
