I've tried several times to eliminate bands on reports, but with no success. I've tried doing this via the "Edit>Bands..." menu item and deselecting the "visible" property.
Do you mean eliminating bands in the final document? If so, then you have to set the height of the band to 0. Checking "visibility" on and off only affects whether the band is visible on screen, not in the final document.
