Jasper Webinar Thursday 8PM EST

Post by BLOMASKY »

Not sure, but think that makes it 1AM Friday Morning GMT.

The agenda has been mentioned in a previous post. If you do attend, have your mic working since I do expect to take questions. At the end of the hour, you should be comfortable in building and deploying Jasper Reports using Jasper Server and Jasper Studio and seamlessly interfacing it to Aware.

the url is: join.me/bruceLomasky

I will record it (if I remember to press the right buttons!) so those who don't attend can watch it at their leisure.

Great Bruce,
Please do it at beginner level and don't forget to record at HD resolution :). I will buy you that Martini.

Thanks a lot for doing this.
Thx,
George

OK, I "THINK" I did press the right button to record it. Perhaps the recording is here:

Thank you very much Bruce!! This will help a lot! Look forward to start experimenting.
Just one question... How would you create a document to save in aware im? I.e. if you an object with document attribute and you want to compile a report amd store it in Aware in that document attribute instead of using DISPLAY URL? Is that still possible?

I do not know how to store a jasper report in awareIM. I know there is a .JRXML file that compiles down to a .JASPER file. Without knowing how Aware stores documents, I have no idea how it could be incorporated into aware. Again, Aware documents don't have any SQL written. The engine handles that for you. When writing a Jasper report you have to write (or copy) the SQL statement.

Perhaps Support can give you an idea if this is doable but I would guess not.

Just one more thing Bruce....

Wondering if you know how to print an Aware Picture attribute on a Jasper report?
Cheers,
Mark

Mmm. Thanks Bruce. Will wait to hear what support says. The jasper Studio software is very powerful and flexible. It his can be the new report writer in V8 it will be awesome, but need to be able to generate and Save to a document attribute.

Once again thank you for sharing.

Hi Bruce,

Now that 8.1 has the REST feature, did you tried to access reports through web service from Jasper Server?

Thx,
Thx,

I did NOT. Since I just want to show the PDF output to the users I am still using the same DISPLAY URL. I find the Jasper UI for viewing reports as only OK. It does give you options to change the output format, page through reports, but for my needs, PDF works fine. (and, as someone smarter than me once said, "if it ain't broken don't change it")

Bruce,

Everyone with the report url can access it...If a tenant hints the ID number of an invoice which is for other tenant-> will see information that is not for him.
I want to pass in the jasper report URL a token with a non-persisted object, so that token dies after the report is viewed on the screen .

1. I create a non persisted BO "BOMytoken" with "token" field
2. Process :
CREATE BOMyToken with BOMyToken.token="some random string"
DISPLAY URL "SystemSettings.Jasperpath"+'&myInvoiceID='+Invoice.ID+'&myTokenVariable='+BOMyToken.token

1 question: How can I make Jasper be aware of that token existence and only when a valid created token to display the report?
I hope I have explain it clear enough.
Thank you in advance.
Thx,
George

Figure it out...It's pretty easy infact.
Don't have to use a non-persisted BO.
BOMyToken.token =AS_STRING(ROUND(RANDOM()*10000000,0))

In jasper Report you have to remake the SQL statement to include the JOIN with BOMyToken and add a Parameter to the report
After call the report with url -> in process add this "DELETE BOMyToken"
Pretty easy...
cheers,
Thx,
George
