Edit vs View in a form operation

When you access an object from a query or form list, you have the option of View or Edit. The View and Edit actions are described in the User's Guide and when used in a process, the View action does not wait for user completion before continuing the process rules. But when used on a form or query, what is the difference? I ask because when I call a BO in view mode and the form has wizard-style navigation, it presents the Finish button (same as save). In my case, the business object is protected from the user but the Finish button is still presented in View mode. If the user selects it, it presents an error that the object is protected. So it would seem that this button should not appear if the object is protected or if View mode means read-only.
