Database question

I'm importing a CSV that populates a Client BO.

My Industry/Subindustry fields are dropdowns and for some reason they are not given as options in the mapping. They're both list items and the Subindustry gets filled dynamically, based on what the Industry is.

If I changed them to text fields but only allowed certain values then went in after upload and changed back to the dropdowns but kept values exactly the same, would that break anything, database-wise?
