Wish List - Separate DBs for each BS

Post by RocketRod »

I would like each BS to be in a separate database as some databases such as SQL Express have DB limits. So if you are hosting 10 customers each with their own BS on a single installation of AwareIM and the BS has 100 tables thenm your DB hays 1000 tables and each BS can only be on average 10% of the size of the total DB. This is just an example of issues related to having everything in one DB.

Currently you can rename the live and test databases any name you like so the functionality is already built into AwareIm to have different db names to the standard. I would like this functionality to be dropped down to the BS level. If a name is not defined for the BS then it can default to that defined within the control panel so there would be no backward compatability issues.

I agree this would be an excellent feature, it would also make things easier for migration and restore of client databases

This would be a very good feature and would defiantly help / make easier migration of data. Great idea. Hope to see this at some point!

Some other features include ability to store documents in a file directory rather than the database, "lightbox" support for images (viewing larger versions of images), ability to store database scripts in the BSV (for example, for stored procedures and indices), ability to categorise objects, queries, processes and some other improvements.
