Queries perform slow with shortcuts

I have an Object that uses external database SQL objects. When I use a shortcut in an object and that shortcut is based off of an object that is an external object, I notice the performance of queries and other types of queries that reference the Object that has the shortcut is a lot slower. I realize that there will be a degredation to an external source, but not to the level I am seeing. Especially considering all of the AwareIM and my external sources exist on the same server SQL DB.

My current objects that are giving me difficulty:

Software (AwareIM native)
SLPurhcase (SQL view) (child to object Software)

Not sure if this all makes sense.
