can Aware IM run with Firebird Database

Hi Folks,

I just got the question if Aware IM can run with the Firebird database.

Anyone tried this already? Firebird seems to be an interesting option here.

If there is a JDBC driver for Firebird then Aware IM will work with the existing Firebird tables. Aware IM does not support Firebird natively, though.

This is interesting, but I was thinking, why would one go for this option over Mysql or Oracle free version

Hi ??? (ACDC?),

well, there could be more reasons:

1. MYSQL could be too much overhead for a small application
2. ORACLE has limited User-Tablespace
3. Build in Derby would be fine, but has search limitations (only case-sensitive)

So, if a user wants a easy database without case sensitive search only Firebird could be an option.

I will try this over the weekend (if I find time) and will post my findings.
