How to programatically show/hide attributes on a form?

I kind of remember reading somewhere i the docs that it is possible to show/hide attributes on a form programatically.

Is that possible?

Can't seem to find out how to do that in the Configurator.

you can't do this programmatically but you can do the same things as described in the thread "How to set up labels programmatically").

Actually you can also use rules to protect attributes and business objects. Please see the PROTECT action in the User Guide. You can define conditions under which attributes and even entire objects will be protected. You can also make attributes read only or hide them altogether (READ PROTECT).
