Config tool version vs server version

Post by joben »

Is it risky to run, for example, Config Tool version 8.8 (Build 3127) and connect to a server running version 8.8 (Build 3123) ?

If this is not recommended, I wonder if it is possible to download a specific Config Tool version somewhere?
Regards, Joakim

it depends on what was fixed in those versions...
functions, reporting, server side fixes are usually in aware.jar which is on the server.
if it was improvements to the config tool, those are in the local pc's eclipse directory and run-time functions are in local aware_kendo directory.

may be safe, may not.

It is generally not recommended, but like Jaymer said you may be lucky. Running later builds of the Configuration Tool vs earlier builds of the server are often safe (but not the other way around). Still it depends on the changes between builds.

You can only get the evaluation version...

I ended up updating the server and then downloaded the Config Tool via the evaluation page.
