Search on object attributes - multiple selections allowed

I had previously seen a post and reply regarding a search form through which a user would see the values associated with a particular related object.attribute. In other words, a list of existing values in a related object attribute. The user could then select one or more of these for the desired search.

Unfortunately, I can no longer find this post. Can you offer any help?
