Anyone run Aware on a Mac?

Post by BLOMASKY »

I have used my mac for client server into aware on a windows server....but I have new plans.

Would like to use Docker to run MSSQL on the mac (already done this!) and have Aware connect to it. However, I can not even get aware to run with the derby database. No good errors. It gets to "creating database tables... Populating them.." then I get an error about it can't start.

Just curious if peeps have gotten aware to run on OS X

I use Mac OS and AIM but not docker or MSSQL.

Wonder if you might be better running a VM with Windows / MSSQL?

Can't really help except to say AIM on Native Mac with MySQL works fine. Never tried Derby and never got to grips with MSSQL.

Production server is on a windows server 2016 box and I happily do complete restores of the production MySQL database straight onto the Mac (just really to check the disaster recovery procedures). I also code on the Mac and transfer the BSV's onto production when debugged and ready

Since you code on the Mac, how do you deal with that annoying 1 to 2 second delay that happens every time you click on attribute for example when you have to wait for the properties to refresh. Or you click on the field on the form, and wait for the properties to refresh. That would drive me crazy

Maybe that's a bi-product of using Derby?
