Import documents without copying

Hi,
my client asked me to import their documents (a few thousand documents) stored on the file server for the application, but without copying them - one document = one record.
After adding the documents, I have to check the new documents daily and make the update.

I have a problem now because I don't know how to add documents to the application without copying them.

Does anyone know the solution??

Are they now in the system?
... now the issue is daily upkeep?
