►Q◄ for Yuri, Hein, Weblike

Post by Jaymer »

I found discussions from you guys from 3 and 4 years ago, about automatic conversion to PDF.
George used 7PDF, then moved to a HTML->PDF solution (quicker).
Hein said this would be his procedure to make nice looking reports in Word, rather than Rpt Designer.
Yuri made a Word Macro so Word, started from the command line, would autom. make a PDF.

I like to ask you gentlemen how you feel about these solutions NOW, 3 & 4 years later.

Still using them?
You still feel Word reports are the way to go?
Even with improved 8.1 Reporter?
Starting today with v8 on a new Project, would you use these same strategies?

thx
jaymer...

Hi Jaymer,

Just saw this post...sorry...for late (1 month) :)))

I'm using wkhtmltopdf to convert html to PDF and JasperReports Server and for few reports I'm using native ReportDesigner.

If you need more details let me know.

cheers
Thx,
George

Wow
I think I’m a little bit late
But I still use the same solution and it works perfectly, but my aware still an old version.

The main pros that I saw when i used word as a report it was that it’s too quick to do and update, and it’s like a WYSIWYG editor... and I can even overwrite some stuff and save the result file again...

The main pro is that sometimes the server keeps the template word file opened some how and after a month or so, the server memory is overloaded and when you open the process manager from windows, shows hundreds of instances o WORD.exe...

But it’s a pretty good solution for me...

Cheers
