I am having the same issue and I was about to post this question before I found this thread. I see the last update was in May.
So when will this be resolved? I really HATE how it adds all that space. It should be up to me and not AIM to decide this.

Re: View an object instance with indirectly related data
purist,
I will research display layout. Thanks!
I am going back to my data model and re-thinking some things. Once I get something I will do that. I'll post up a sample of that I'm trying to do.
Thanks!

Re: View an object instance with indirectly related data
Bruce, Thanks for the input. You gave me some points to think about. I went back and made some significant changes to my data model to account for my ability to use BO Groups in AIM. I was able to create a 'Facility' BO Group for all of my objects that represent a facility. The BO Group does not sol...

Re: Where are my attributes??
Anyone have a clue why this may be happening? Has anyone else had an issue with a BO not creating all of its attributes in the DB?

Where are my attributes??
This is weird.. I just noticed this. One of my objects is missing two attributes. I have it setup in in the object but when I check the database they are missing?? I have these two attributes in a lot of other objects and they are working fine. I swear there where showing up before. Is this a bug? o...

Re: View an object instance with indirectly related data
I'm stuck. Is there any way to add the results of a query to an object form?
If I could attach the results of a query to my Well form, then I could have the results filtered by the 'Facility' that is selected in the Well dropdown box.

Procedure to import sample data
Just an FYI to anyone that has not yet discovered this: Go and look at the Sales Portal application and the Init processes. Just awesome! Don't be like me and run your application in test mode and use the Import button to individually load sample data for each object! Wow, that was killing me. Anoth...

Re: View an object instance with indirectly related data
No luck. I added the shortcut but it just shows up as a label. Well Form.jpg In the application, if I go to a Facility, I can see the related data for that Facility. Like below. Facility Form.jpg When I add the shortcut to the form nothing shows up. :( Well Form.jpg with related data.jpg What am I d...

Re: View an object instance with indirectly related data
Yes, you are correct. There is a relationship between Well and Facility.
I will play this those shortcuts. Thanks!

View an object instance with indirectly related data
I have an old version of my application (not build in AIM) that allows me to view a record for a particular well. That view allowed me to include information that is not directly related to the well but is indirectly. For example, each Well is attached to a 'Facility' through the selection made via ...

Re: Global Search Feature
Ben, I was rolling over laughing at myself - how did I miss that?? Excellent point! I went back and realized that I have the 'SearchText' setup because I do some concatenation with other attributes. For example, every oil and gas well what is called an API number (here in the U.S. it is the equivale...

Finally got a chance to make a quick video of this working.
I hope this helps anyone else looking to do the same thing.
Thanks again RocketRod!

Ok,
I went back and CAREFULLY read the user guide MULTIPLE times and FINALLY got it!
So far, it is super easy now.

Re: Importing data from other application
I have shied away from the DB because I am not totally familiar with the way AIM manages it. I dont want to mess anything up.
I dont think I saw anything in the docs that goes into detail how to work directly in the DB. I agree, it would be MUCH easier!

Importing data from other application
I've read the user guide, I have watched the import/export templates video and I have searched the forum. I cannot wrap my head around how to get my data into my newly created application in AIM. My data is currently in a MySQL db. It has lots of relationships. I just don't understand how AIM gets t...
