Export is an [[glossary:action|action]] that writes values of [[glossary:attribute|attributes]] of a [[glossary:business_object|business object]] into a file in the [[glossary:operation_mode|operation mode]]. It can be used to extract required information from the system on a one-off or [[glossary:scheduling|regular basis]], for example to exchange data with software systems that do not support [[glossary:communication_channel|direct communication]]. It is also possible to export data of multiple business objects for editing in a specialised software application and [[glossary:import|import]] the modified data back into **//[[glossary:aware_im]]//**.
