An attribute is a part of a [[glossary:business_object|business object]] that holds some fact about the business object. It may be, for example, a customer name, an account balance or an order number. The kind of information held by the attribute depends on its [[glossary:attribute_type|type]].

[[glossary:notification|Notifications]], like [[glossary:business_object|business objects]], also have attributes.
